During the period from August 23, 2019 to August 25, 2019, the tenth representative conference of Jiangsu Society for Plant Physiology and the 40th anniversary’s academic exchange activities, sponsored by Jiangsu Society for Plant Physiology and undertaken by Nanjing Agricultural University, was successfully held in Nanjing. Professor Tan Xiaoli and three other teachers from the Department of Botany of our institute attended the conference by request.

The annual conference, which was on the subject of "Plant Physiology and Rural Revitalization", was conducted via keynote presentations by specially invited people (Academician Wan Jianmin of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Zheng Shaojian of Zhejiang University, etc.), plenary lectures and group exchanges. More than 200 people of our province participated in the academic annual conference, who are members of the aforementioned society and their postgraduates; they are engaged in scientific research on and education in plant physiology and related research fields. Experts' reports were unconventionally brilliant and incisively insightful; the reports broadened the horizons of the participating teachers and students, inspired and enlightened them deeply, and had received warm welcome and wide acclaim from representatives present at the meeting. In addition, the tenth council and supervisory board of Jiangsu Society for Plant Physiology were elected during the meeting. Tan Xiaoli, vice-president of our department, was elected as a member of the tenth council of Jiangsu Society for Plant Physiology. In the course of the group exchange and reporting, Zhu Keming and Ding Lina, who are teachers of our department, academically reported some of the work of the research group, and were selected as the winner of Excellent Paper Reporting Award.

This annual meeting shared the research progress and latest research findings in plant physiology and related fields, discussed the direction of future research and development of plant physiology in Jiangsu, provided a good academic exchange platform for scholars and postgraduates engaged in plant physiology research and education, and further propelled the sustained development of plant physiology in our province and its related disciplines. In addition, the Life Science Research Institute of Jiangsu University has won the right to host the next Youth Academic Annual Conference of Jiangsu Society for Plant Physiology. The next annual Youth Academic Annual Conference will be held in Zhenjiang under the auspices of Jiangsu University. (Institute of Life Sciences  Li xiuxia)
