On September 6th, our college held the opening ceremony for new students of Grade 2022 in Conference Room F609 of Lei Si Building. All the leaders, administrators and teacher representatives of the college attended the ceremony, and 24 undergraduate students attended the ceremony offline, 58 graduate students and 3 undergraduate students who failed to attend online on time due to the epidemic. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Wenjuan, deputy secretary of the CPC Party Committee.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Wenjuan, vice dean of the college, expressed a warm welcome and good wishes to the new students on behalf of the college. Dean Tan Xiaoli introduced the development history of the university and the college, and also gave an introduction to the latest frontiers in the field of life sciences, and put forward ardent expectations from four aspects: goal setting, learning ability enhancement, teamwork ability enhancement, and how to face setbacks, encouraging all of you to be down-to-earth and move forward with your dreams. Mr. Shi Chaowen, the representative of teachers, said that he hoped everyone could feel the times and be a person with dreams; study hard and think well, be a person with vigor; be tough and hardworking, be a person who strives, become an outstanding innovator and a pioneer leading the future, bloom in the ocean of biology and achieve the best self. Li Shouzhi, a representative of the senior students, shared his experience in the two years of postgraduate study and encouraged his siblings to cherish their time in university, dare to experiment and take up their mission. Li Jiaqi, a representative of new undergraduates, shared her feelings about entering university and his expectations for the future, hoping to cultivate the ability to live independently, help each other and strive for excellence with fellow students, and grow into a confident, generous, radiant and socially valuable youth of the new era. Wang Yong, a representative of new postgraduate students, put forward his self-requirement for the postgraduate stage, to keep exploring and innovating on the road of scientific research, and to climb the peak of scientific research.

Finally, Party Secretary Tan Cheng gave a "first lesson in navigation" to the new students with the theme of "Achieving an infinite future with the struggle of youth". He put forward four points of hope to the students: firstly, they should set up ambitious aspirations and firm ideals and beliefs; secondly, they should focus on all-round development and grow up to be the best version of themselves; thirdly, they should abide by the school rules and regulations and start with safety; fourthly, they should plan their lives scientifically and embrace a bright future.

At the meeting, all participants also sang the school song "100 years of glory to the future" together to strengthen the new students' love for the school and its honor.
