Green, Efficient, Innovative, Integrated: 2026 National Symposium on Frontier Applied Technology for Biological Feed and Veterinary Drugs Held in Zhenjiang

From October 17 to 18, the 2026 National Symposium on Frontier Applied Technology for Biological Feed and Veterinary Drugs, co-hosted by the Institute of Applied Microbiology of the School of Biological Sciences and Technology, Jiangsu University, was held in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. Under the theme of “Green, Efficient, Innovative, Integrated,” the conference was jointly hosted by the Henan Provincial Society of Bioengineering, the State Key Laboratory of Animal Nutrition of China Agricultural University, the Institute of Applied Microbiology of Jiangsu University, and the 2026 Feed and Veterinary Drug Organizing Committee. It brought together experts and scholars, industry representatives, and industry managers from the field of biological feed and veterinary drugs in China for in-depth discussions on frontier technological breakthroughs and industrial applications.

Yong Yangchun, Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Technology, Jiangsu University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. He noted that Announcement No. 1027 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Regulations on the Administration of Fermented Feed, has placed fermented feed under the statutory management category of "single feed," and that the biological feed industry is entering a new stage of standardized development. He expressed the hope that all participants would use the conference platform to promote interdisciplinary integration and industry-university-research collaboration and jointly support high-quality industrial development.

The conference featured thematic sessions on policies, regulations, and safety evaluation; biological feed and fermentation technology; synthetic biology and enzyme engineering; veterinary drugs and antibiotic replacement technologies; and Chinese herbal medicine applications and the pet economy, with a total of 20 thematic presentations. Speakers included experts and scholars from universities and research institutes as well as representatives from industry, and their presentations covered basic research, technology development, and industrial practice. Among them, Professor Chen Huayou from the School focused his presentation on the microbial-enzyme synergistic fermentation of Chinese herbal medicine and its application in aquaculture. Faculty members Feng Yong and Chen Yong from the School gave presentations on the development of broad-spectrum glucose oxidase and its application in straw degradation, and on the development and application of straw lignin-degrading enzymes, respectively. The conference also included an exhibition session for new technologies, new products, and new equipment, providing a platform for exchange and matchmaking among industry, academia, research, and application stakeholders.

The symposium covered policy interpretation, technological frontiers, and industrial practice. Through a combination of thematic presentations and on-site exchanges, it both showcased the latest research progress and created favorable conditions for aligning key technology R&D with practical industrial needs. It is of great significance for promoting the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation in the fields of biological feed and veterinary drugs.
