Professor Naomi Phillips from Arcadia University, USA, Visits Our School to Give Lectures and Participate in Program Symposium

Recently, the undergraduate education program in Biological Sciences jointly run by our School and Arcadia University in the United States reached an important teaching milestone. Professor Naomi Phillips from the Department of Biology at Arcadia University was invited to visit and deliver on-site lectures for students in the program on Molecular Biology, providing them with an authentic international teaching experience.

To deepen exchanges between faculty members of both sides on teaching philosophies and methods, Professor Yong Yangchun, Dean of the School, held a special discussion with Professor Phillips on May 19. Several faculty members from the School who are involved in the Sino-foreign cooperative education program attended the meeting.

At the discussion, Dean Yong Yangchun first extended a warm welcome to Professor Phillips on behalf of the School and briefly introduced the School’s development history, disciplinary development, and achievements in international education. Subsequently, the two sides held in-depth exchanges on topics such as how to further improve the quality of courses in the Sino-foreign cooperative education program, optimize teaching models, and strengthen the cultivation of students’ academic competence. Participating faculty members spoke actively and shared their experience and reflections in light of actual teaching practice. Professor Phillips also offered many constructive opinions and suggestions based on her teaching practice in the United States.

The discussion provided a sound communication platform for faculty members of both sides and produced a number of practical ideas for teaching improvement, injecting new momentum into the continued high-quality development of the Sino-foreign cooperative education program in Biological Sciences.
